Catalunya has a selection of fine Golf courses to whet the appetite. The PGA Catalunya is an hour from the hustle of Barcelona and lee than fifteen minutes from the medieval delight of Girona, set amid green hills and mountains. A five star hotel, two championship golf courses and a myriad of outdoor activities including trekking, cycling and horse riding trails. Further afield, the Torremirona Golf and Spa near Figueras offers fine dining and an excellent location at the feet of the Pyrenees, South of Barcelona and we find the Dolce 5 star hotel in Sitges, next to the nearby Mediterranean golf course, where you can enjoy the sunny microclimate of this excellent resort.


The city of Marbella is known for it’s beachside culture and excellent hotels, and has now launched it’s Golf Passport offering the chance to play on six different golf courses in the área. Enjoy the vibrant nightlife in Port Banus, and during the day make the most of some of the best golf on the Iberian peninsular. La Manga Club is another stop for golfers visiting Europe, with two hotels of four and five star class, three golf courses, a wellness centre and over a dozen restaurants. The coastline of the Murcia área has been developed in recent years and both Mar Menor and the city of Murcia are well worth a visit if you are in the área, and the beauty of the countryside has led to several more golf courses being built around the city.

Just what I wanted, a weekend in Barcelona and a week playing golf by the Costa Brava. Nice weather and a fine golf course.
