Luxury Travel in Switzerland: Mount Pilatus & Golden Round Trip

Travel to Switzerland with us

Luzern (or Lucerne if your heart feels more the language of France) is a picture perfect jewel tucked away between the blue waters of lake Lucerne and the mountains. Enjoy a private guided tour of the cross chapel bridge and the tiny squares and painted façades of the traditional houses, the Lion monument and Musegg Wall, learning about the history of the town. There are typical restaurants for dining, and our guide can arrange a booking in any one you choose. Finally, return to your hotel and enjoy the lake views as evening dims into the night.

Much more than a trip up the mountain, this is a typical Swiss experience. The guide will meet you at the hotel and take you to Kriens, where you take the panoramic gondolas to Fräkmüntegg. Then you travel on the the aerial cableway “Dragon Ride” and enjoy the spectacular vistas out of the panoramic windows, especially designed to give the feeling of flying. Once at the top of Mt Pilatus (2132 m), venture down the Dragon’s Path or go for short hike to the summit.
Later you can relax on the panorama terrace admiring magnificent views over the surrounding mountains of the Swiss Alps and the blue lakes in the valleys below. There are a selection of traditional restaurants to chose from. From here, the highlight of the day is possibly the thrilling descent on the world’s steepest cogwheel railway (48% gradient) down to Alpnachstad. From here the rhythm changes and the final leg of the journey will be a lake cruise on the delightful Lake of the Four Cantons and where you can take in the beautiful landscape from an entirely different perspective. The excursion ends at the pier in Lucerne.

Thanks for arranging the itinerary change at such short notice, and fixing the guide to take us up Mount Pilatus – we wouldn’t have missed it for the world. And Thomas was a great personality.
