Tarragona is a city with historic roots dating back beyond the Romans, and the amphitheatre and the forum can still be seen in the town. There are two excellent wine growing regions nearby – the Penedes vinyards to the north, and the Priorat region to the south. The old quarter has some great restaurants and with it’s historic leaning it is a great town to visit and spend a few days playing golf. There are some great golf courses to play while here. Lumine golf resort offers three distinct tracks. The Hills course runs through the pine, carob and olive trees and offer great sea views while the Lakes course crosses the natural wetlands and offers a fascinating set of challenges, and the nine hole Ruins course completes the set. Moving south, the Bonmont golf club lies in delightful wooded surroundings and offers perfectly maintained fairways and greens. Finally the Costa Daurada offers a technical challenge with it’s narrow fairways.
We recommend the vineyard accommodation at the five star hotel Terra Dominicata, which offers a hidden retreat in the Montsant national parque, in the Priorat wine growing region. This converted bodega combines both modern luxury and traditional design, with wine making an ongoing part of the hotel. Sit back and enjoy excellent local cuisine and fine wines beneath the vines.
